Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank makes strides in the face of challenges

The Reverend Dr. Emmanuel James Owusu-Bonsu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank has said the bank made a considerable progress in 2022 despite global economic challenges. “We are all witnesses to the fact that the 2022 financial year was a challenging one. Just at the time when we thought we had escaped from the Covid-19 pandemic and its effect on businesses in general, and the banks in particular.

“Yet again we were hit with geo-political conflict between Russia and Ukraine which has put a burden on economies globally, with Ghana feeling it most,” he stated.

AKR Bank introduces online lending to maximize customer convenience

The Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank in the Ashanti region is working on introducing online lending to ease the difficulty in accessing loans for business purposes. Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Bonsu Sekyere, says investments are being made to strengthen the bank’s cyber space to ensure maximum protection of clients.

Atwima Kwanwoma is CIMG Rural Bank of the Year again; 5-time recipient of the award

Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank Limited at Pakyi No 2 in the Amansie West district of Ashanti Region has been adjudged CIMG Rural Bank of the Year 2021 by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).

The bank is a 5-time recipient of this prestigious award and for two consecutive years. Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank won the 2013, 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2021 edition.

The 2021 award was on the theme ‘The Creative Marketing and Innovation in a Volatile Global Economy’, and sought to acknowledge individuals and organisations for their excellence and innovations in the field of Marketing.

Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank Declares Dividends for Shareholders Following a Two-Year Hiatus

Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank has announced a dividend payout of over GH¢ 1.2 million to its shareholders for the fiscal year 2021. This declaration equates to a 16% return on investment, with each share earning a dividend of 8 pesewas. The payment arrives following the end of a directive issued by the Bank of Ghana, which had mandated deposit-taking institutions to suspend dividend payments for two years in light of the COVID-19 pandemic's economic impact.

In the 2021 review year, Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank posted a pre-tax profit exceeding GH¢ 7 million, demonstrating growth from the GH¢ 5.9 million reported in 2020.

AKR Bank posts 40 percent profit despite Covid-19 challenges


The Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank has posted a 40 percent profit after tax for the 2020 financial year, despite the impact of the covid-19 on businesses. The Bank grew its profit from 3,031, 095 cedis in 2019 to 3,841,061 cedis at the end of the 2020. This represents an increase rate of 26.72 percent. CEO, Dr Sarfo Kantanka says the bank’s strategic plans show a more impressive performance by the end of 2021.

Deposits at the Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank in the 2020 financial year increased by 40.1 percent from the 2019 figure. It stood at 205,389,993 Ghana cedis as against 146,582,226 Ghana cedis in the previous year.
